Other unlockers can just read the code stored in the BK1C partition, if the phone has the factory locked code.
If the GSM operator decides to use its own MSL code (instead of accepting the factory one), the unlock code is stored in a “security area” of the phone, which other available unlockers can’t read. This is the problem you are facing in many operators around the world who decide to relock the phone with their own simlock code when they get it, before shipping it to the customers.
The HTC Elf unlock software we offer at http://elf.sim-unlocker.com can read the operator MSL code, and will give you a different unlock code than the one you get using other unlockers available for the HTC Touch/Elf. Of course, this code will unlock the phone successfully.
Be aware that if you have entered the wrong unlock code so many times, you’ll have to wait for the simlock timeout before you can enter the real unlock code shown by our unlocker.

Ok. I’ve tried all different sorts of unlocking software and codes and they never worked for my Elfin from Claro/Brazil. If your method doesn’t work either, how does your refund policy work?
Diego, for sure our method works with an Elfin locked to Claro Brazil, we have successfully unlocked tons of them, as well as from other networks that have problems with the factory lock code, such as TIM Brazil, KPN netherlands or Movistar Spain.

I think I had the same problem with Tim-Brazil and UniquePhones unlock code
I already tried two times. What is the limit before completely blocking the unit. I would like to try sim-Unlocker but I’m concerned about it…
@Marcos: with 2 times you have to wait less than 5 minutes for the simlock timeout. There is no hard limit on the number of tries, but the timeout increases exponentially on each wrong code attempt.

Oh, just some additional information about my phone. Its an ELF 0101 locked on the Telefonica Movistar in Venezuela and I want it to run in USA. I have burnt ONYX ultimate 4.8 on it. Thanks guys. I really hope you can solve this issue cos almost no one on the internet can do it!
